Korumburra Staying Strong

Some of the many ideas and thoughts shared by the community at our KSS event in October 2022

We are a group of community members who answered a callout from the Foundation of Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) who were willing to assist in building a resilient community through funding from their Disaster Resilience Future Ready program.

Korumburra was one of three towns chosen to be offered funding through FRRR within Victoria.
After a long process of discovery and design, FRRR funded us to deliver initiatives that will further enhance Korumburra to be a resilient community.

We have held 4 community gatherings with the first in October 2022. As part of this exercise, we have clearly learnt from all the feedback, that people like to be connected.  Staying connected happens in many different ways for different people.  Some like to just read the Burra flyer, some like to hang out, some like to connect with community groups, some like to hang out at the pub or the footy and connect that way.

Another way we can connect is via this community website. In partnership with Korumburra Community Development & Action Inc. (KCDA) we redesigned the korumburra3950.com.au website and helped to keep it updated to represent the rich community that is Korumburra.

The next initiative was to development a Korumburra Resilience & Emergency Plan. This Plan came about with the assistance of community comments & suggestions after the 2024 storms.

In March 2026 we completed our final initiative pulling together all your feedback and information received and launching the Korumburra Community Direction Statement.  This document reflects the community’s achievements over past 8 years, your values, your vision, and your future aspirations and goals for us all to work towards.

The KSS project is now complete. Thanks so much to all who participated in this long and interesting journey.
