Korumburra’s Community Resilience & Emergency Plan Now Live: A Big Thank You for Your Input
We’re proud to announce that the Korumburra Community Resilience and Emergency Plan is now available for everyone to read, share, and use. This plan is the result of ongoing collaboration between local residents, emergency services, and community groups—all working together to ensure that Korumburra is prepared for emergencies and able to bounce back stronger than ever.

Thank You for Your Input
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our recent “Staying Strong by Being Prepared” event and contributed their ideas and feedback. The energy in the room, the conversations, and the genuine care for our community were outstanding.
Special thanks to:
Scott Hardy from AusNet, who spoke with 20–30 community members throughout the day on topics like vegetation management, customer resilience, and understanding outages. Scott called it an excellent event and appreciated the chance to connect with other agencies.
All the other emergency services who valued the format, the opportunity to engage outside formal roles, and suggested making the event an annual fixture.
Everyone who participated in our feedback fishbowl—your suggestions were thoughtful, practical, and inspiring.
What You Told Us—and What We’ve Added
Based on your feedback, we’ve strengthened the plan to include:
Clearer emphasis on having cash on hand in an emergency.
Guidance around solar and battery storage—including support for community-based energy solutions like a community battery bank.
Suggestions for local emergency information including snake catcher contacts, rubbish collection schedules, and a calendar for newcomers.
Greater attention to vegetation hazards like overgrown roadsides and low-hanging trees.
We also heard more ideas for broader community improvement—from developing an Arts Centre and upgrading the railway precinct to creating a more welcoming town entrance. While these are not directly emergency-focused, these ideas speak to the wider goal of building a stronger, more connected Korumburra. We are adding these ideas to the long list we already have, and will form part of an upcoming revising of the Korumburra Community Plan
What’s Next?
This plan isn’t just a document—it’s a living resource for households, businesses, and community groups. We encourage you to:
Read it to understand how to prepare and respond during emergencies.
Share it with neighbours, family and friends.
Use it to guide your own preparedness plans, and to start conversations in your community.
We’ll continue to update the plan as our needs evolve, and as we hear more from you.
Let’s stay strong by being prepared—together.
